Here are a few things to check for when an atutomobile policy declaration arrives in the mail:
Is coverage listed correctly? Physical damage coverage is required on financial vehicles. Vehicles without a lien can also carry full coverage; however, they only require liability. Also, if towing and/or rental reimbursement has been elected, make sure the policy indicates such coverage.
Are all drivers listed? This would include all members of a household and employees of driving age. To avoid questions at claim time, make sure anyone who operates a vehicle is listed on either a personal or commercial automobile policy.
Are personal vehicles being used for business purposes? If so, the policy needs to be endorsed to list the specific vehicle being used in business. This is the same for vehicles being utilized for farm, work and school.
Are lien holders noted only on vehicles being financed? Even if the loan has been paid off, if a lien holder remains listed on a vehicle that is involved in a claim, the name of that financial institution will be listed on the settlement check.
Taking a few extra minutes to review policy declaration is a good way to ensure adequate coverage and avoid lengthy delays in getting a claim paid. Call the John Sieh Insurance Agency with any changes that need to be made to your automobile policy. |

A good habit to keep is changing batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to and from daylight savings time. Fire extinguishers need to be maintained annually in the event they would need to be replaced. Even though a home may be equipped with these protective devices, if they are not in working order, the homeowner has no protection.
Keep sidewalks clean and clear of ice and debris. A bodily injury claim can arise if someone would fall or slip on your property. The best protection is always prevention.
Does the premise include a fence or other structure? Coverage for other structures is automatically 10% of the dwelling coverage amount; however, many times this amount is inadequate. The cost to increase this coverage is very minimal. Contact John Sieh Agency to make sure your policy carries enough coverage to protect you in the case of a loss.
